Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is only willing to sell Edinson Cavani for cold hard cash and will not consider a player exchange deal, according to Sky Italia.

De Laurentiis revealed last night that Chelsea hold an interest in the Uruguayan striker and he expects the Blues to place a call to him to discuss a deal "within hours".

It has been suggested that Chelsea may try to tempt Napoli into selling Cavani for less than his €63m release clause by throwing Fernando Torres into the deal.

But, despite new Napoli coach Rafael Benitez’s good relationship with the striker he managed at Stamford Bridge and with Liverpool, De Laurentiis will not play ball.

Indeed, the Azzurri supremo wants cash and only cash for Cavani, as he looks to identify his own targets.

Cavani hit the back of the net 29 times in 34 Serie A games for Napoli last season, as the Azzurri, under Walter Mazzarri, finished second in the Italian top flight.

The Uruguayan has also been linked with Arsenal and Real Madrid in recent months.
