Out-of-favour Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez could soon make Serie A his new hunting ground, with Italian sides Napoli and Fiorentina both given permission to offer the Germany international a contract, according to Sky Sport Italia, in case a fee should be agreed.
Gomez’s game time during last season with the Allianz Arena outfit was limited, with then-manager Jupp Heynckes preferring to place his faith in the likes of Thomas Muller and Mario Mandzukic. Still, the 27-year-old still managed to score 11 goals in his 21 league appearances, with 12 of those coming from the bench.
With new boss Pep Guardiola keeping mum on his plans for Gomez, it seems the striker is no longer willing to wait and the club are happy to oblige. Indeed, it is believed that the Germany international is now in talks with Napoli and Fiorentina about a potential transfer.
This is notwithstanding the English Premier League clubs who are also keeping tabs on Gomez, with both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur credited with some interest in the centre-forward in recent months.
