Free agent Eric Abidal has put treble winners Bayern Munich on alert by announcing his desire to join the Bavarian giants next season and reunite with his former boss at Barcelona, Pep Guardiola.
Abidal was given his marching orders from Camp Nou by none other than Barcelona president Sandro Rosell himself, who announced well over two weeks ago the club’s decision not to renew the left-back’s contract beyond the 2012/13 campaign.
While Abidal has been linked with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in recent months, the Lyon-born defender has revealed he would love to move in with former boss Guardiola at the Allianz Arena.
"I would sign for Bayern [if given the opportunity]", Abidal told Telefoot. "Guardiola knows my situation. I would love to be part of his plans."

Abidal went on to highlight his relationship with compatriot Franck Ribery, who was in excellent form for Bayern Munich during the past season.
"I have a great relationship with Franck Ribery and the team are among the best in Europe.
"I still don’t know anything specific, but Bayern would definitely be a great choice", Abidal confirmed.
