Real Madrid are ready to make contact over signing Luis Suarez from Liverpool within the next few days, according to Sky Italia.

While Los Blancos have been strongly linked with Napoli marksman Edinson Cavani, it is understood that the Spanish side’s preferred target to strengthen their attack is his Uruguay team-mate Suarez.

The former Ajax striker has already admitted that he wants to leave Liverpool this summer and conceded he would find refusing Real Madrid to be a hard thing to do.

And Suarez may soon have to decide whether he sees his future at the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is keen to make a statement after losing out on the signing of Neymar to Barcelona – and Suarez is seen as the ideal capture.

Liverpool are not likely to easily consent to the Uruguayan’s departure, although talk of a £40m release clause in the forward’s contract could see the Reds left powerless to resist Los Blancos’ overtures.

While this is a transfer saga with the potential to run all summer, Real Madrid look set to at least kick it off in the coming days.
