Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic has explained that he is flattered to be linked with English Premier League giants Liverpool, but has insisted that there are no concrete offers from the club.

The 25-year-old Swiss-born Croatian international started his youth career with Swiss league giants Basel in 1995, and appeared for Bundesliga side Schalke between 2007 and 2011.

In January 2011, he penned a four-and-a-half year contract with the Red and Whites.

Despite interest from the Merseyside heavyweights, Rakitic has stated that he will be staying on with Sevilla.

“I’m very flattered to be linked with such a big club like Liverpool”, he told 24Sata.

“I have heard that something is happening, but so far there is no concrete offer.

“I repeat what I have said before, I will only be with Sevilla, where the team will be reinforced. I have made it fairly clear, and they know they need to buy good players”, he added.

Rakitic clocked up 42 appearances for Los Rojiblancos in the 2012/13 season, scoring 11 times and assisting 13 times.

Sevilla finished ninth in La Liga this term.

Meanwhile, Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas will undergo a medical with Liverpool today.
