Luis Suarez has added a fresh chapter to his ongoing transfer saga by claiming Real Madrid as his "dream" destination, following weeks of speculation over a potential move.

The Uruguayan is under contract at Liverpool until 2018, but recent weeks have seen a multitude of reports linking him with Los Blancos, with even club president Florentino Perez admitting a liking.

Suarez’s career in England has been marred by controversy over incidents of racist language, diving and, most recently, of biting an opponent and he has made no secret of what he called "unfair" treatment from the media.

While Liverpool have officially stated Suarez is not for sale, the player himself has often expressed his desire for a move to the Spanish capital.

In an interview to RR Gol, the 26-year-old said: "Any player would like to play in a big team and Real Madrid are a big team.

"Every player wants to get to the maximum level and Real Madrid are at the highest. They are a dream for any player.

"It is the maximum that you can achieve as a player and is most attractive. But the talk is all rumours. Specifically, I have received [no offers].

"I do not know if I’m one of the Los Blancos. All I know is that I have a contract [at Liverpool]."

Suarez has previously admitted he would love to play alongside Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, but added: "It’s complicated. At the moment he is in Madrid and I am in Liverpool. I do not know what will happen.

"[My agent] tells me to be quiet. I ask him and he says he is calm. He says that the day there is a strong and specific interest, I will be the first to know."
