Hamburg sporting director Oliver Kreuzer has announced a shake-up at the Imtech Arena in an effort to "thin out the the squad", with three players told to seek alternative clubs.
Marcus Berg, Gojko Kacar and Robert Tesche have become surplus to requirements at Hamburg, as the club attempt a new line of direction this season.
Kreuzer’s predecessor Frank Arnesen had been sacked amid dissatisfaction over his transfer dealings and contractual negotiations of players, especially over in-demand Son Heung-Min.
It was revealed yesterday by Kreuzer that Son was most likely to be snapped up by Bayer Leverkusen, and there are further reductions imminent for Hamburg in the coming months.

Kreuzer was quoted by Bild as saying: "We want to thin out the squad. We have decided that there is no more value for the club to be working with [Berg, Kacar and Tesche]."
Kacar’s contract with Hamburg still has two years left, while Berg and Tesche were set to be free agents next summer – the latter has been on loan at Fortuna Dusseldorf since January.
However, Kreuzer insisted the decision to let players go was taken keeping mutual interests in mind, adding: "I hope for more insight but [the decision] is also about their careers.
"Waiting out until the end of their contracts achieves nothing. No one likes to run for years through the forest."
