Napoli face a battle in their bid to snap up Lyon midfielder Maxime Gonalons after the French club’s president Jean-Michel Aulas indicated that he does not want to sell the starlet.
Gonalons has been requested by new Napoli coach Rafael Benitez and a meeting between the Italian club and the player’s agent has already taken place.
The Frenchman has interest from elsewhere, with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger a fan. Indeed, the Gunners tactician has been linked with lining up a double raid on the Stade Gerland which would include Clement Grenier along with Gonalons.
But Aulas is not willing to play ball.

According to Sky Italia, the Lyon supremo has made it clear he does not want to sell the midfielder.
This has not stopped Napoli’s interest and did not prevent the club meeting with Gonalons’ agent.
However, the Azzurri may have to offer a very substantial fee to cause Aulas to perform a U-turn on the France international’s availability.
