Borussia Dortmund have moved quickly to deny that they have firmly identified Ajax schemer Christian Eriksen as their preferred replacement for Mario Gotze this summer.
Gotze is leaving the Ruhr giants to sign for rivals Bayern Munich in a €37m deal and Dortmund have been looking to replace the attacking midfielder.
Eriksen, who has been strongly linked with English Premier League outfit Liverpool for months, has made positive noises about joining Dortmund and it has been suggested Jurgen Klopp’s men will hoover him up.
But sporting director Michael Zorc has moved to cool those thoughts and instead thrown a new name back into the hat – that of Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.

"It is with amazement that I read the rumours surrounding Eriksen", Zorc told the Ruhr Nachrichten.
"But it is true that De Bruyne wants to come to Dortmund", he added.
De Bruyne spent last season on loan from Chelsea at Bundesliga side Werder Bremen, taking the German top flight by storm.
Bayer Leverkusen tried to have the Belgian inserted in the deal to sell Andre Schurrle to Chelsea, but to no avail. It remains to be seen if new Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will be willing to part with the Red Devils schemer.
