Liverpool have already begun preparations for a life that is potentially without the services of Luis Suarez by approaching for Sevilla striker Luis Alberto.

Alberto has been plying his trade with Barcelona’s reserve side whilst on loan from Sevilla, and his 11-goal tally from 38 games has prompted interest.

With Suarez’s future appearing uncertain at best, following reports of his dissatisfaction over media treatment in England, Liverpool seem keen to have a backup.

And in Alberto, they appear to have found a potential replacement for the Uruguayan, who could be on his way to Real Madrid.

"Liverpool’s interest in Luis is real", Sevilla football director Ramon Verdejo told SFC TV. "They have come with a pretty good offer for the player but there is nothing written about this yet.

"There was dissatisfaction when we took him on. We all agree that he now has greater value in the market and has grown as a player.

"Is it a good idea to sell him for the amount mentioned? We have a really good offer on the table, relative to where Luis is.

"We do not know what happens in the future and so far we have not said ‘yes’ to the offer."

Alberto made the grade at Sevilla’s senior side in 2011, and made nine appearances for the club before making the move to the Spanish champions’ B team.
