Corinthians midfielder Paulinho has been given the strongest hint regarding a possible move abroad, with interest from Tottenham Hotspur confirmed to be a reality.

The Brazilian club’s sporting director Duilio Monteiro Alves revealed Spurs have made their admiration for Paulinho clear, alongside other clubs.

The 24-year-old had yesterday insisted that reports of his agent’s trip to London were nothing to do with a move towards either Chelsea or Spurs.

However, with Inter and Roma also in the mix for the Brazil international, it seems Corinthians have been kept busy over the player, despite a release clause of €20m.

Alves told Brazilian news outlet UOL: "We know that Tottenham is interested, even if there is nothing official yet.

"We expect that in the next few days we will be talking about something more concrete and official."

Paulinho is understood to be disappointed at the fact that no clubs have yet contacted Corinthians with a solid approach, but that could well change soon.

Alves added: "There have been no offers, but we expect they will happen, especially as some clubs have already sent us unofficial offers.

"We believe that something will happen in the coming days, but we will still try to keep him."

Paulinho is currently playing for Brazil in the Confederations Cup and even scored a goal in the hosts’ 3-0 win over Japan in the tournament opener.
