Bundesliga side Hamburg continue to eye more arrivals in their quest for a fresh start to the season, with Johan Djourou of Arsenal on their radar, according to Bild.
Djourou has been spending time on loan with Hannover, and Hamburg appear keen on the centre-back, who joined Arsenal back in 2004.
He initially was part of the youth set-up, but made his way upwards to the senior squad with three years spent under Arsene Wenger’s watch.
However, with Arsenal investing heavily in their defence, the Switzerland international was sent out on loan to Birmingham City for half a season.

He did manage another five years with Arsenal after returning from St Andrew’s but then found himself out of favour and ended up at Hannover, in the January transfer window.
He turned out 14 times in the Bundesliga, while it is understood Hamburg will aim to get the 26-year-old on a loan spell first.
They could face competition from Hannover themselves, however, as the centre-back has expressed a desire for a longer spell at the club.
New Hamburg sporting director Oliver Kreuzer has been busy this summer after announcing sweeping changes, including asking three players to start finding a new club.
On the arrivals lane, Manchester City’s Roque Santa Cruz, currently on loan at Malaga, has been made an offer to join Hamburg.
Hamburg will kick off their new Bundesliga season with a visit to Schalke on 10th August, with the fixtures released today.
