Laurent Blanc has confirmed there is a "good chance" he will be named the new manager of Paris Saint-Germain, with the appointment set to be made real this week.

A television station run by PSG’s Qatari owners, beIn Sport, had announced last week that Blanc was set to become the new coach at the Parc des Princes.

The deal is understood to be for two years and while there is no statement yet from PSG, Blanc revealed he is due for a meeting today with the club.

Following his participation in a charity match yesterday, Blanc told L’Equipe: "I will be in Paris on Monday to discuss.

"There is a good chance that I will sign. I cannot say much more for now, [but] we’ll know more later in the week."

Blanc’s name had come up in line for the PSG job after reports that last week’s talks over Russia national team coach Fabio Capello had stalled.

If confirmed, former Barcelona and Manchester United player Blanc will take over from Carlo Ancelotti, who will be free to join Real Madrid, as has been his desire.

Blanc, meanwhile, is relishing the chance to manage the Ligue 1 champions, a year on from leaving the post with France’s national team following their Euro 2012 exit.

"PSG is a great opportunity, and it is a great club", Blanc added. "It’s very interesting. I’ll do what I can, that is the situation."

With things moving swiftly in Paris, some of the club’s players many thousands of miles away have been offering their support for the former World Cup winning Frenchman.

One of those is Lucas Moura, who is currently playing for Brazil in the Confederations Cup, and he said: "I personally do not know much about his work as a coach. I know he was world champion in 1998.

"If PSG has chosen him, it is because he is probably a great personality and a great coach. We’ll do everything to support him so that this group remains very competitive."
