Premier League champions Manchester United are due to play Swedish side AIK as a part of their pre-season preparations and former Old Trafford player Jesper Blomqvist believes it will be a stern test for the Red Devils.

David Moyes’s men will travel to Bangkok, Sydney, Yokohama, Osaka and Hong Kong before touching down in Stockholm to play the club from Sweden.

The 39-year-old former Swedish international feels the match will be an entertaining one and AIK will be raring to face their opponents from England.

He told MUTV: "AIK are one of the best teams in Sweden. They’ve struggled a little in the first part of this season, but they have a strong side and they will be even stronger when United are here. It’s a good game for them to play and they will be really charged up for it.

"It’s the last game of the pre-season tour and it will be good to have a game like this against a team who are up to speed 100 per cent physically and in top form. It’ll be a good game for United and, of course, the players will be doing their best to prove themselves to David Moyes and show that he should be picking them in his first XI."

Blomqvist further added that the fans are really excited about the fixture and he expects a full house.

He also praised the newly built Friends Arena, which boasts a retractable roof.

"The game will be played in a great stadium. It’s newly built with a closable roof but hopefully we won’t need to do that in August! It’s a great arena with a great atmosphere.

"The fans are very excited to have United coming to Stockholm and I’m sure Friends Arena will be a sell-out.”

Blomqvist spent three seasons with Manchester United, making 38 appearances and scoring just a solitary goal.
