Benfica striker Oscar Cardozo is less likely to move to Fenerbahce after UEFA expelled the Turkish club from taking part in any European competition for three seasons, with one suspended, due to match-fixing charges.
Fenerbahce will not be able to participate in this year’s Champions League despite qualifying for the tournament, though they are set to appeal the decision.
With this development England may be a possible destination for the Paraguayan international, according to Portuguese daily A Bola.
30-year-old Cardozo finds himself in a precarious position at Benfica as coach Jorge Jesus has informed the club’s president Luis Filipe Vieira that he does not wish to have players aged above 30 in his squad.

The forward is valued around €15m and is the only foreign player to be on the Portuguese club’s top ten list of all-time goalscorers.
Known for his powerful left-footed shots and free-kick skills, Cardozo has featured in over 150 league matches for Benfica, scoring 105 league goals.
Cardozo’s contract with Benfica runs until 30th June 2016.
