Highly-chased Napoli centre-forward Edinson Cavani has pushed forward his plan to talk to club president Aurelio De Laurentiis in an effort to finally "clear the air" about his future at the Stadio San Paolo, hinting at desire to stay with the club where his "heart" is.

Cavani’s future with Napoli has been a hot topic in recent months, with rumours incessantly linking him to a move away from his current club to the likes of London heavyweights Chelsea, 2012/13 Premier League runners-up Manchester City, defending Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain as well as Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Such a big following is almost certainly a deserved one. Sure enough, the Uruguayan striker helped Napoli to a second place finish in the Serie A last season by scoring a commendable total of 29 goals and five assists in 34 league appearances.

And his exploits reach even the international stage, with him helping Uruguay reach the semi-finals of the Confederations Cup, getting onto the scoresheet against host country Brazil – although the Selecao still managed to win 2-1.

With speculation reaching boiling point, Cavani was quoted as saying by Voetbal Primeur: "I love Napoli – it’s my city. My heart is there.

"But during my stay here in Brazil, I have read and heard many rumours and untruths about my future. Now I would really like to talk with president Aurelio De Laurentiis as soon as possible.

"We must clear the air. I’ll talk to him, and approach it like real men do", Cavani concluded.

The Uruguayan international already made clear his intention to talk with De Laurentiis earlier in the week, cementing his desire to resolve his Napoli future soon.
