New Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has asked the club’s president Florentino Perez to buy Paulinho according to Spanish daily AS.

English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the 25-year-old Corinthians midfielder and have already triggered his €20m release clause. Now though Ancelotti could steer Real Madrid into the race, who would have little problem matching Spurs’ bid.



The Brazilian had earlier confirmed that he has received an official offer from Tottenham but will make a decision regarding his future after the Confederations Cup, but added that playing in the Premier League is “a dream” for him.

He was quoted as saying, "There is an official offer from Tottenham. I’ll decide after the Confederations Cup."

Paulinho has been in scintillating form for the Selecao at the Confederations Cup, having netted two times in the competition so far.

He scored against Japan in the opening match and most recently against their South American rivals Uruguay in the semi-final to help his side reach the final of the tournament.

Paulinho has been with Corinthians since 2010 and has scored 20 goals in 86 appearances for the Brazilian giants.
