Leeds United vice-chairman Salah Nooruddin has explained that the club’s intention is to further strengthen the squad through “sensible” additions this summer.
The Peacocks have already snapped up 24-year-old English striker Matt Smith on a two-year deal this summer, and club manager Brian McDermott has insisted that he is looking forward to adding more players, in a quest to further strengthen the squad ahead of the 2013/14 season.
The former Reading boss also explained that he is involved in talks with at least five players, and the club are pushing to sign them. The vice-chairman of the club has reiterated the need to bring in new players.
“Our aim is to further strengthen the squad through sensible additions which will add to the long term development of the club”, Nooruddin told his club’s official site.

“Brian has outlined plans to rebalance the squad and bring in a mixture of younger players with potential and others who are more experienced, and we are backing him to achieve these objectives in a structured way.”
The Bahraini-based businessman also mentioned that the club are working on the targets set by McDermott and the Yorkshire giants are keen on having players who will provide a long term value to the team.
“We are working on the targets that Brian has outlined and expect to see more progress in the coming weeks.
“I believe that we have to look for the long term value rather than the quick fix in everything.
“We also have to be mindful that all our dealings fall within the Football League’s new Financial Fair Play regulations which limit the amount owners can invest in a club”, he added.
Nooruddin also explained that some players will depart from the club this summer, as the manager reshapes the squad.
