Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has ruled out a possible move for Arsenal and Liverpool target Clement Grenier by stating that a contract extension is imminent.

Grenier has been a wanted man in England, with Arsenal even sending scouts over to watch the 22-year-old in action, whilst Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has also expressed his admiration for the schemer.

The France international had been tipped for a move by his agent, even as his father doubted the same would happen for the player who has spent all of his club career so far with Lyon.

His contract is set to expire next summer, and Aulas is confident an extension will be signed, as he told L’Equipe: "Grenier will be here next year. We are moving towards a one-year extension, maybe even more."

The statement will be a reassurance for Lyon fans who have watched Grenier grow into his own in the last few seasons, with the last campaign seeing him turn out 28 times in the league.

He played a role in Lyon lifting the 2012 French Cup, even if his time on the pitch was relatively limited compared to the 2012/13 season.

His seven goals and five assists this season helped raise his value further, with even Juventus and AC Milan reported to be eyeing a move.

Performances through the age groups for France have culminated in two senior caps, both of which came in the country’s recent tour of South America in defeats to Uruguay and Brazil.
