Eintracht Frankfurt have told Nicklas Bendtner that he will have to take a pay cut on his salary at Arsenal to join them in the Bundesliga.
Frankfurt have been pushing to sign the Denmark international from the Gunners, where he is surplus to requirements.
An agreement with Arsenal has been found, but Bendtner’s personal terms now present the stumbling block.
"Even if we had the money, we could not justify paying it", explained Frankfurt executive chairman Heribert Bruchhagen to German daily Die Welt.

"If Bendtner gets an offer that is of the same magnitude of the amount he earns at Arsenal, then it’s unrealistic to think we can get him."
And all in all, Bruchhagen struck a downbeat note on signing the striker, who spent last season on loan at Juventus, believing him to be somewhat out of reach.
"I think our chances of signing him are one in nine. He is just not in our range."
Frankfurt are believed to have offered Bendtner a deal which, in total, would see him pick up £800,000 less than he currently earns at the Emirates Stadium.
Earlier this week, Bendtner’s agent expressed the hope that a deal for his client to leave Arsenal could be done soon.
