Pedro Aldave, the agent of Benfica forward Oscar Cardozo, has explained that Turkish giants Fenerbahce are involved in negotiations with the Portuguese club to secure the signature of his client this summer.

The agent also claimed that everything has been all but done and Cardozo could join the Istanbul outfit imminently.

Cardozo has been with the Eagles since the summer of 2007. The Paraguay star won the Portuguese league title with Benfica in 2009/10 and has lifted the Portuguese League Cup four times.

His agent has now revealed that a move to Istanbul is almost done.

“Negotiations between the two teams are going on well. It is pretty much all set”, Aldave told Fanatik.

“Whatever further needs to happen will be done in a short conversation. The official signature could happen at any time", he added.

Cardozo – the Paraguayan Footballer of the Year in 2006 and 2009 – has also been linked with newly promoted Welsh side Cardiff City.

The Bluebirds earned promotion to the English Premier League after finishing as the winners in the Championship last season.

Cardozo, 30, clocked up a total of 46 appearances under club manager Jorge Jesus last season, scoring 31 times, as Benfica narrowly missed out on a historic treble.

Jesus’ side lost the Portuguese league title by a point to rivals FC Porto, and also lost the final of the Europa League to London giants Chelsea. Besides that, Benfica were defeated in the final of the Portuguese Cup by Vitoria Guimaraes in May.
