Henrikh Mkhitaryan is set to join Borussia Dortmund from Shakhtar Donetsk, having penned a three-year contract, with an option for a further year’s extension, with last season’s Champions League finalists.
Mkhitaryan had refused to attend pre-season training with the Ukrainian champions in order to push for a switch away from the Donbass Arena.
Liverpool had made the running, with Anfield believed to be the player’s favoured destination, while Tottenham Hotspur were also keen.
But it is Borussia Dortmund who have won the day, with the German side sending their CEO and sporting director to Donetsk yesterday to thrash out an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk.
