Spanish giants Barcelona are keen to sign Marseille playmaker Mathieu Valbuena with initial talks already under way, says the player’s agent, Christophe Hutteau.
The 28-year-old Frenchman made good during the 2012/13 campaign, scoring five goals and clocking up 14 assists in his total 46 appearances for L’OM.
That form, it appears, has been enough for the Catalan giants’ standards, who are keen to boost their attacking midfield options.
"I spoke with Mathieu and [Barcelona director Andoni] Zubizarreta some time ago and I know that Barcelona appreciate the player very much", Hutteau told French daily La Provence.

"They told me they seek an attacking player with his characteristics after the departure of Villa", the agent added.
Valbuena’s contract with Marseille ends in 2017.
