Marseille president Vincent Labrune has admitted that he has sanctioned a move for Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton, but admits the ball is now with the Loftus Road outfit.
Barton joined Marseille on a season-long loan last season and made a total 33 appearances for the Ligue 1 club, scoring one goal and tallying three assists along the way.
But with QPR now plying their trade in the Championship, it is evident that the 30-year-old midfielder wants to move on, having already claimed a deal was in place for him to stay at the Stade Velodrome.
Both clubs were quick to deny Barton’s statements, however, and the Englishman returned to his parent club without much ceremony.

Nevertheless, Marseille are keen to reunite with Barton, with Labrune telling Le 10 Sport: "Joey, we appreciate him and we made him an offer. But we are not masters of the game, [the decision now] belongs to Queens Park Rangers."
Barton has a contract with the London-based club until 2015.
