Emanuele Giaccherini’s agent is confident the player’s move to Sunderland can boost his chances of getting further national team games under his belt, despite leaving Italian giants Juventus.
Giaccherini has linked up with Sunderland after sealing a four-year deal, but many within Italy have criticised the move as hampering his international career, which has so far seen him earn 14 caps.
However, his agent Furio Valcareggi has defended the transfer, adding that the Italian winger was well placed to be a first team regular if he played his cards right.
"The English league has great visibility and Prandelli is monitoring the situation", Valcareggi told Tutto Mercato. "If he plays to his level there will be no problems.

"The problems were at Juve where he could only play a little. There was more competition, while at Sunderland he will be a first-choice player, and hopefully will remain with the national team."
Giaccherini was part of Italy’s Confederations Cup team this summer, and gave a good account of himself by scoring a goal and making two assists in five games.
The move to Sunderland may have surprised some, but Valcareggi admits the pace of the switch was forced upon all parties.
"The move was sudden", Valcareggi added. "Juventus did not want to give him away, but they got a serious offer and we were offered this possibility.
"We thought about it and then accepted it. We were clear that we would only have left Juventus for financial reasons."
