CSKA Moscow have sold Vagner Love to Chinese Super League side Shandong Luneng Taishan FC, a move that raises further complications for AC Milan’s pursuit of Keisuke Honda.

Love had been raking in the goals with CSKA – 94 in 199 games total – and Honda’s potential departure would have meant an even bigger role for him in Russia.

Speculation of Honda moving to Milan in the summer, and not in December as originally planned, was doing the rounds, but it appears unlikely now that Love has made his exit.

Shandong confirmed the news of Love’s arrival via a statement, but are yet to confirm the length of the contract and the fee paid.

In the statement the 2012/13 league runners-up added: "Love has formally signed a contract after three months of work on the part of staff here at the club."

Love is a veteran of many European campaigns with CSKA and even scored a goal in the final that saw them lift the erstwhile UEFA Cup in 2005.

He won three league titles with reigning champions CSKA as well as a remarkable five Russian Cups and three Super Cups.

The Brazil international also boasts 26 senior caps and two Copa America titles, while he spent time at Flamengo last season but was sold back to CSKA owing to disagreements over the transfer fees.
