Championship side Queens Park Rangers have blocked Joey Barton’s move to Marseille as the club refuse to terminate the midfielder’s contract, French daily La Provence claim.

Barton has been vocal about his wantaway stance at Loftus Road, seeking a permanent deal with Marseille, a club with whom he joined last season on loan.

The Ligue 1 club were only too eager to reciprocate their appreciation of the English midfielder, having revealed they engaged in talks with QPR on making Barton’s Marseille stay permanent. The catch is that the Stade Velodrome outfit want Barton to terminate his contract with QPR, thus no transfer fee will be exchanged.

And now it is clear that QPR have moved to roadblock Barton’s London exit by not agreeing to a mutual termination of the player’s contract, believing that the club are at a disadvantage should they agree to the player’s demands.
