Marco Verratti has already put down a request to leave Paris Saint-Germain, via his agent, but the club appear unwilling to cash in on the talented midfielder just yet.

Crucial talks held yesterday between Verratti’s agent Donato Di Campli and PSG director general Jean-Claude Blanc reached an impasse, as the player continues to be courted by Napoli and Fiorentina.

Di Campli had even revealed yesterday he was sitting on a "monstrous" offer from Napoli, while Verratti is understood to be hoping for a salary increase if a stay in Paris is the solution.

However, following yesterday’s meeting Di Campli was quoted by L’Equipe as saying: "We are not happy. The situation is becoming painful.

"We even asked the club to allow the player to leave but they did not offer us a positive output on that."

Napoli could be favourites to land Verratti, if PSG give the go-ahead, as the Italian club have been showing their financial strengths in good measure this summer.

Having sold Edinson Cavani, they have proceeded to recruit several high-profile names including Pepe Reina and Gonzalo Higuain.

And Verratti would, no doubt, add colour to the squad for next season, having secured 39 appearances for PSG in his debut season.

His contract at the Parc des Princes runs until 2017, but recent events would suggest an earlier-than-expected release is very likely for the player with three Italy caps.
