Highly-rated Ajax playmaker Christian Eriksen has confirmed that he has turned down offers from a number of Russian clubs this summer, stressing that at this point in his career money is not a primary motivation.

Eriksen has just one year left on his Ajax contract and is widely expected to leave the Dutch champions this summer. However, the Denmark international will only quit Frank de Boer's men for the right offer – and that has not come his way yet, with Russia not a tempter.

The 21-year-old told Jyllands-Posten: "That's true enough [offers from Russia, ed.], but it is not something I personally feel like right now.

"They called and there were also some clubs that bid, but it was not something I had to think long and hard about.

"Many 21-year-old players would look at it differently than me, but I did not have the view that I am going to go to Russia at the age I am now.

"For the money, most would probably go to Russia, but I don't count the money as so much of a priority yet."

Eriksen has been consistently linked with Liverpool this summer, while Tottenham Hotspur have also been mooted as keen. Indeed, Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars was recently forced to deny a double bid for Eriksen and his team-mate Toby Alderweireld from Spurs.

Should the attacking midfielder stay put in Amsterdam, he has promised to negotiate a contract extension with Ajax.
