Arsenal have been in touch with Valencia over signing goalkeeper Vicente Guaita, but have so far failed to find an agreement with Los Che for the 26-year-old.

The custodian's current contract at Valencia expires in 2015 and he has already informed the Spanish outfit that he does not wish to pen an extension.

Barcelona have been linked with Guaita as they search for a replacement for Victor Valdes, who has also refused to extend his contract, although that has just a year left to run.

Now though it is Arsenal who are making the running with, according to Cadena Ser, contact having been made between the two clubs.

No agreement has been reached though over a player that Los Che have no clear desire to sell.

Guaita himself however has communicated through his agent his desire for a solution to be found to his future, with the suspicion being that the Spaniard wishes to join the Gunners.

The 26-year-old is a product of Valencia's youth ranks and made his senior team debut in 2008.

He has since gone on to be rated as one of the top shot-stopper in La Liga.
