Arsenal are seemingly not in the mood to give up on recruiting a goalkeeper from Spain, with Espanyol's Kiko Casilla being given a look-in, according to El Mundo Deportivo.

The Gunners were snubbed in their attempts to recruit Valencia's Vicente Guaita with club owners laughing off a below-par offer.

Arsenal's summer has been marked by criticism of their transfer policy, but Arsene Wenger has promised an accelerated approach until 2nd September when the window shuts.

And that has led him to Casilla, whose reported release clause stands at €20m and it remains to be seen what approach Wenger will take.

It should be noted that Wenger has long been a fan of Casilla, having been linked with him as far back as 2008.

Casilla is a former Real Madrid youth graduate before he joined Espanyol's ranks in 2007.

His contract with Espanyol runs until 2015, and he has so far made 49 appearances with the club in all competitions.
