Ola Toivonen could yet leave PSV Eindhoven on a free transfer next year despite attempts to lower the transfer fee for a quick summer exit.

PSV have been left frustrated over the Sweden striker, who rejected Norwich City then performed a turnaround of sorts and then saw the Canaries as possible.

PSV are hoping to either sell Toivonen quickly or tie him down to a contract extension, with his current deal set to expire next year.

However, Toivonen has done neither so far, and PSV have been forced to consider lowering the asking price.

Toivonen's agent Mino Raiola insists things are far from certain for this summer, but told the Eindhovens Dagblad: "That can change in a few days.

"The market is still closed but I think Ola will just leave on a free transfer next year."

If Toivonen stays on at PSV without an extension, he is almost certain to be relegated to the reserve squad.

For now, he has played all four games in the new Eredivisie season as a substitute, but is yet to take part in the club's Champions League affairs.
