Two names have emerged as Paris Saint-Germain look to appoint a new sporting director.

The French champions saw Leonardo stand down from the post earlier this summer, with the deal-maker feeling a 12-month ban handed out by the Ligue 1 authorities for him pushing the referee in the tunnel after a match against Valenciennes was too harsh.

The Brazilian completed the signing of Edinson Cavani from Napoli and then stood down with immediate effect, revealing, of his Ligue 1 ban: "What they did to me was very unjust. Everything became too difficult after this suspension."

Now, following the closure of the summer transfer window, PSG are looking to have a new man in place.

According to French daily Le Parisien, PSG are considering former club striker Pauleta and ex-Barcelona and Real Madrid star Luis Figo.

Pauleta remains a popular figure at the Parc des Princes due to his five-year spell at the club between 2003 and 2008, which yielded over 100 goals in just over 200 games.

Figo meanwhile currently works as an ambassador for one of his former clubs, Inter, and is known to have an impressive array of contacts throughout European football.
