Harry Redknapp would love to continue his player-loan relationship with Tottenham Hotspur in the form of Emmanuel Adebayor but admits it will be "a difficult one".

Queens Park Rangers boss Redknapp has already brought over Tom Carroll and Benoit Assou-Ekotto from Spurs this transfer window, both on loan.

The former White Hart Lane manager has now revealed his admiration for Spurs outcast Adebayor, but the situation remains uncertain at best for the Togo forward.

Adebayor has been consigned to the development squad by manager Andre Villas-Boas, and is currently on extended compassionate leave after his brother's death.

His return from Togo could prompt an enquiry from Redknapp, who today told a press conference: "Ade would be a great loan, that's for sure.

"But I don't know what will happen with him. He's a good player so it's up to Tottenham. They've got lots of good players.

"You can't go on loan into the Premiership now; you can only go on loan into the Championship. So it depends whether he'd want to do that. It will be a difficult one, I think."

Regardless, Redknapp remains relatively relieved with his transfer efforts this summer, which also saw another former Spurs man in Niko Kranjcar make a temporary switch from Dynamo Kyiv.

QPR are currently unbeaten in and top of the Championship – including just one draw – and next face Birmingham City at home.

"It will be a tough game but I'm pleased with what we've got", Redknapp added. "I like the look of the squad. We've bought some players that will make the difference.

"To get where we were when the window came around was a big bonus. The number of points we picked up was excellent."
