Gennaro Gattuso has seen his tenure as Palermo coach come to an end after president Maurizio Zamparini removed him from his post.
Palermo lost 2-1 last night away at Bari in Serie B, a result which leaves the club 13th in the 22-team Italian second tier.
The club have won just two of their six Serie B games so far this season, losing three and drawing one.
Gattuso, most notable for his 13-year spell at AC Milan, first entered the dugout earlier this year with a spell in charge of Swiss Super League side Sion.

The Swiss club opted to sack him in May this year, but he quickly bounced back by taking over at Palermo in June.
Gattuso's successor at Palermo is Giuseppe Iachini, who was previously employed at Siena.
