Arsenal are pondering a January swoop for FC Porto striker Jackson Martinez as Arsene Wenger looks to reinforce his attacking options in 2014.

Wenger was keen to add a quality striker to his squad over the summer transfer window, but failed with bids for Gonzalo Higuain and Luis Suarez.

In the end Wenger had to give up on his pursuit and switched his attention to Mesut Ozil, bagging the playmaker from Real Madrid before the window slammed shut.

But Wenger has not given up on his striker desire and, according to Tutto Mercato, is keen on Porto's prolific goal-getter Martinez.

Ironically, the Colombian was chased by Napoli, who beat Arsenal to the signature of Higuain, over the summer.

Porto managed to keep hold of the 27-year-old however and they have already been justified in their decision to do so.

Indeed, Martinez has so far struck five times in six Portuguese top flight games this term, while he has also been on target in the Champions League for the Dragons.
