Former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is eyeing his first raid on the Premier League as Galatasaray boss, with Manchester United winger Antonio Valencia in his sights.

Mancini was recently appointed Galatasaray coach in succession to Fatih Terim and started his tenure with a creditable 2-2 draw away at Juventus in the Champions League.

Now the Italian tactician is planning to improve his squad when the transfer window swings back open – and Valencia is on his radar, according to Turkish sports daily Fanatik.

Mancini got a close look at the Ecuador international during his time in charge of Manchester City and has developed an appreciation of the winger.

Valencia has struggled to produce his best at Old Trafford of late and the club's new manager David Moyes is thought to be willing to part with the player.

It is believed that Manchester United are looking for around €15m for the former Wigan man, though Galatasaray are likely to come in with a far lower initial offer.

Galatasaray currently sit in an unfamiliar 13th place in the Turkish Super Lig, with just seven points from six games.
