Switzerland coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has revealed that he will retire after next year’s World Cup in Brazil.
The German, who took charge of Switzerland in 2008, has guided the nation to their second successive World Cup qualification.
Hitzfeld’s side enjoyed a solid qualification campaign, where they topped Group E with 24 points from 10 matches.
But after 30 years in football management, Hitzfeld feels that his time has come to stop as he wishes to lead a life away from the beautiful game.

"After 30 years in the strength-sapping world of football, my time has come to stop", he said in a statement.
"I can live without football, there are more important things in life."
The 64-year-old has been a student of football, first as a player and then as a manager.
Hitzfeld, who used to be a striker in his playing days, has the rare achievement of winning the Champions League with two different clubs as he guided Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich to the continental trophy in the 1996/97 and 2000/01 seasons respectively.
