Thiago Motta's speculative move to Napoli has been rubbished by his agent, who cited "salary parameters" that would prevent the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder from fitting in.

Motta has been linked with a switch in January with Napoli boss Rafael Benitez on the lookout for some stability down the centre and at the back.

Torino full-back Danilo D'Ambrosio is also a possibility, while Italy international Motta was being thought of for a return to his adopted country.

Motta spent two-and-a-half years with Inter Milan before switching to PSG in January last year, while his agent Alessandro Canovi today quashed any rumours.

"There is absolutely no truth in it", Canovi told Napoli Calcio Live. "I know the reality of Napoli, but there has not even been a conversation about it.

"We also have to consider that a player like Thiago would not fit into the plans of certain clubs that have particular salary parameters.

"Thiago Motta is happy in Paris and, although he still hasn’t signed a new contract, the rumours which are circulating are without foundation."

Former Barcelona and Atletico Madrid man Motta made just 12 appearances last season in PSG's title-winning display, but his current contract is until 2015.
