Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester City are believed to be monitoring the situation of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi.

Matuidi's contract with the Parisian heavyweights is set to expire at the end of the season and PSG have not yet tabled an extension, following an altercation between the player and his former agent.

Matuidi's former agent, Jean-Pierre Bernes, filed a lawsuit against the midfielder for the wrongful termination of his contract, with high-profile representative Mino Raiola accused of being behind the development.

According to L'Equipe, PSG remain firm in their stance of only offering Matuidi a deal after his hearing on 4th November.

By then, however, it could be too late for the defending Ligue 1 champions, as both Chelsea and Manchester City are believed to be plotting a move for the 26-year-old.

The two clubs would be free to offer Matuidi a contract come January of next year, in accordance to the Bosman ruling, giving PSG only a month to finish talks with the highly-rated midfielder.

Despite the circumstances, Matuidi remains a key element in PSG's midfield, having in all of the club's 12 competitive matches this season, starting in all but one.
