Chelsea are on red alert after young Wolfsburg wunderkind Julian Brandt refused to renew his contract with the Bundesliga outfit.
The 17-year-old winger's current deal with the Wolves expires at the end of the season and, despite yet another fresh proposal being put to him, now looks poised to move on.
Wolfsburg had pulled out all the stops to keep Brandt, but while other homegrown talents Maxi Arnold and Robin Knoche recently penned new long-term deals at the Volkswagen Arena, the 17-year-old refused.
During discussions Brandt's representatives made clear to Wolfsburg that the young starlet simply could not see himself remaining at the club.

Now the gun has been fired on the race for the winger's signature, with Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho keen on the Germany Under-19 international.
The Blues will face opposition however, as Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich are also firm fans of Brandt.
The starlet has been in good form in Wolfsburg's youth ranks this term, scoring five goals and providing six assists in seven competitive matches.
Brandt operates primarily on the left flank, but is able to be deployed on the right.
He won 19 caps for Germany's Under-17s, scoring five goals, before moving up to the Under-19 ranks, his last outing coming against Scotland earlier this month.
