Paolo Cannavaro's agent has denied there is any notion of the player being on the market after recent months saw a short-term move to Manchester City linked.

Cannavaro is yet to make the same sort of impact under new Napoli boss Rafael Benitez as he did in previous seasons, with just two starts out of four in 2013/14.

There were some reports of him feeling undervalued, at a time when Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini was planning a raid for the brother of the former Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro.

However, Paolo's agent Gaetano Fedele today told Radio CRC: "Cannavaro moving away from Napoli in January? At this moment, there is no discussion when it comes to the market."

When asked about Cannavaro's playing time under Benitez, Fedele explained: "Benitez's choices are respected. The management of Cannavaro is not a problem for the Spanish coach."

A former Napoli academy graduate, Cannavaro had regularly made 30-plus Serie A appearances for the team since 2006/07 after spells at Parma and Hellas Verona.

He is yet to make his Italy senior debut, but was a regular with the Under-21 side, making 18 appearances.
