Manchester United manager David Moyes has heaped praise on Shinji Kagawa after the midfielder’s impressive display in his side’s 1-0 win over Real Sociedad in the Champions League.

Despite not managing to find the back of the net, the Japanese international had a notable outing at Old Trafford last night.

It was only Kagawa’s fourth start of the current campaign, but Moyes was pleased with the former Borussia Dortmund man’s performance.

The Scot even labelled the 24-year-old’s performance last night as the player’s “best game” since he took charge of Manchester United in the summer.

"I thought it was Shinji's best game in my time here", Moyes said via Manchester United’s official site.

"He hadn't really found his feet yet but I saw something from Shinji tonight which I hadn't seen in other games, so I was really pleased.

"His effort when we didn't have the ball was fantastic. With Shinji, everybody tells me about his ability and what he has got, but tonight is the first time I’ve really seen Shinji.

"I thought when we put him into the number 10 role, and even after it, he was good with Wayne [Rooney]. His attitude and energy were excellent and I was pleased for him."

Kagawa, who joined Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund in 2012, has made 31 appearances in all competitions for the club, netting six times.

He has also been capped 47 times by Japan and has 15 international goals to his name.
