Javier Pastore's coach at Palermo, Delio Rossi, believes that Paris Saint-Germain have been guilty of regularly playing the Argentine out of position, but feels a switch elsewhere would not necessarily be the answer to the midfielder's woes.

The playmaker has endured a tough time at PSG in recent months, even seeing a section of the club's fans heavily criticise his performances on match days.

Rossi bossed Pastore at Palermo, the club he turned out for before joining PSG in the summer of 2011 for a fee of around €40m.

And the Italian tactician firmly believes the cards are not stacked in favour of a player Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger recently dubbed "class".

"Since Javier came to Paris, they have not understood him. They have not played him where he should play, especially in the time when he played for [Carlo] Ancelotti on the flank, and he spent his time running back and forth, running behind the opposing winger", Rossi explained to So Foot magazine.

"It was really the worst way to use him.

"Javier is a player who needs freedom to create, to be able to drift, to be in contact with the ball. In Paris there seems to be a conspiracy to play him in positions where he is not at ease, contrary to his natural qualities.

"[Laurent] Blanc has positioned him as an axis upon his arrival, but there has been too little done."

However, despite Pastore being linked with moving on from PSG, with Liverpool mooted as being interested, Rossi is not at all sure that is the answer to the 24-year-old's problems.

"I'm not sure changing clubs is the best solution", the Italian tactician said.

"If he joined [Jose] Mourinho's team for example, it would be worse for him. So it all depends on where he goes and what he is asked to do.

"Apart from goalscorers, who are solitary, all players need their natural qualities to be respected."
