Borussia Monchengladbach have expressed their confidence that goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen will resist overtures from Barcelona and remain at Borussia-Park.

Ter Stegen has shot up to the top of Barcelona's wishlist to replace current number 1 Victor Valdes, who is quitting the Camp Nou next summer when his contract expires.

Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has admitted scouting Ter Stegen closely and talk of a move being all but agreed has swirled.

But Gladbach are hoping to keep hold of their shot-stopping star.

"I think that Ter Stegen will stay", remarked Gladbach coach Lucien Favre after his side beat Hamburg 2-0 on Saturday.

Meanwhile the club's sporting director Max Eberl backed up Favre, saying to reporters: "We are continuing conversations about a contract renewal. My feelings on it are good.

"I think he'll stay at Borussia much longer than people think."

Ter Stegen's contract at Gladbach runs until 2015.
