Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has reiterated his desire to play as a centre-back rather than a left-back.
Vertonghen, who marshalled the centre of the defence at former club Ajax, has often been used as a left-back at Tottenham by boss Andre Villas-Boas – and that is not something the Belgian is too happy with.
"Sometimes I feel like a bit of a stopgap", he explained via Voetbal Primeur.
"I can play at left-back and help the team at times, but everyone knows that I am not a left-back.
