Paris Saint-Germain's Thiago Motta is unlikely to engineer a quick return to Italy, with a contract extension until 2017 on the cards.

According to Sky Italia, Motta will be given the fresh incentive to stay on after the last few months saw him linked with a move to Napoli.

Motta had signed with PSG in January last year from Italian giants Inter Milan, where he spent two-and-a-half seasons.

He is currently contracted until 2015, and has been enjoying life in the new season for the Ligue 1 champions.

The former Barcelona youth graduate was being tipped to help Napoli gain solidity down the centre, with Rafael Benitez ever eager to bolster his squad.

However, Motta's agent last month denied any transfer was possible with "salary" a major point of concern.

"Thiago Motta is happy in Paris and, although he still hasn’t signed a new contract, the rumours which are circulating are without foundation", agent Alessandro Canovi had said.

Motta is yet to open his goalscoring account in 10 Ligue 1 games this season, but did bag a brace in PSG's Champions League opener in September against Olympiacos.
