England manager Roy Hodgson has given Southampton duo Adam Lallana and Jay Rodriguez their first England call-ups for this month's friendlies against Chile and Germany.

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson is also among the surprises in today's squad announcement, earning a recall after last making an appearance at Euro 2012.

Lallana and striker Rodriguez, who has four goals in 13 games for his club, are joined in the England squad by Saints team-mate Rickie Lambert, already with three England caps and two goals to his name.

Everton's Ross Barkley, who made his international debut in the World Cup qualifier against Moldova in September, keeps his place in the 28-man squad.

Elsewhere, Andros Townsend's sparkling form for the Three Lions means he retains one of the 10 midfield berths.

England will play Chile on 15th November, before taking on Germany four days later.

Hodgson's side secured an automatic berth for next year's World Cup last month, finishing unbeaten and on top of Group H with six wins.
