Arsenal have been given a fresh headache on Nicklas Bendtner after the Dane announced he wanted to "get away" from the club.

Bendtner, who spent last season on loan at Juventus, was forced into staying at Arsenal this summer despite several clubs vying for his signature.

It is understood that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger pulled the plug on a potential move, though Bendtner's expected wages were also a worrying factor for suitors.

Bendtner earned himself a recall with both Arsenal and Denmark – the latter after a suspension – though national coach Morten Olsen recently recommended a change of domestic pastures.

And Bendtner has wasted little time in giving his opinion, telling Ekstra Bladet: "I want to get away from Arsenal. Whether it is for winter, we must wait to see.

"I weigh my decision depending on where the highest sporting challenge lies. In this context, finances mean very little for me.

"I've been playing football since I was four years old and back then it was for the love of the sport. It is for that love that I play today as well."

Bendtner's first Arsenal game this season came in 120 minutes of a League Cup game against West Bromwich Albion, while he has earned himself three substitute appearances in the league.
