FIFA have allowed an extension of the voting deadline for this year's Ballon d'Or award according to Mundo Deportivo.

The voting is understood to have been closed last Friday, but it has now been reopened until 29th November.

 


Many prominent players and coaches have already revealed some of their choices for the three-man final shortlist, which will be revealed after voting has officially finished.

The award, currently held by Lionel Messi, will be presented in January 2014 at a ceremony in Zurich.

Former Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale and ex-Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson are the only British nominees in the male categories.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Franck Ribery and Lionel Messi are thought to be the leading contenders for the FIFA Ballon d'Or title.

Liverpool stalwart Steven Gerrard, however, has given his vote to club team-mate Luis Suarez, who has been in superb form for the Reds so far.

Meanwhile, Spain coach Vicente del Bosque revealed he had picked Rafael Benitez, Luiz Felipe Scolari and Jupp Heynckes in his managerial shortlist.

On the FIFA Ballon d'Or, Del Bosque commented: "I have voted for the two Spaniards (Andres Iniesta and Xavi, Ed.). The third, I leave to be known."
